I am a Mountain Being

I come alive in the mountains, energised by their mere presence. The ever-changing environment and the unknowns they offer captivate me. Each mountain, regardless of country, evokes the same sense of completeness and belonging within me.

Mountain beings, or mountain folk, revel in the elements, relish uncertainty, and crave adventure that the mountains bring. More than anything, they love to challenge themselves in a place where you have to adapt, to learn and make the best of what the wilderness gives you. And then there's the calm. The calm of the mind, the calm when you take a rest, the calm of nature.

Mountain beings cherish the crisp, invigorating air enveloping them. the diverse landscapes—forests, rivers, and lakes—offering a stark contrast to the expansive views from the mountaintops, sometimes finding solace as the lone soul in sight. It’s a place that demands awareness of your surroundings, the ability to adapt and often, tough it out. They relish the exclusivity of thriving in such a challenging environment, focusing on essentials, and relishing the mental and physical challenges it presents.

With a careful and thoughtful approach, mountain folk select gear designed to withstand the harsh mountain conditions, trusting them to keep them safe. They hold these possessions and their environment dear, nurturing them with care in return.

Curiosity is ingrained in mountain beings, driving them to establish trust with the products they rely on and the people they encounter. Stories serve as the bridge to understanding both, ensuring reliance in the most extreme mountain terrains.

These stories are often shared around the campfire or within a shelter that's in harmony with nature's beauty. Whether it's a tent, hut, cabin, bothy, or even a pub, these structures are typically crafted from locally-sourced wood or stone, often with the helping hands of locals and friends. Social, cozy, and inviting, these dwellings offer comfort and familiarity, whether enjoyed in solitude or in the company of others. They provide a welcome contrast to the elements of the outdoors, ensuring readiness for tomorrow's adventures.
